Reetha, or soapnut, is known in Ayurvedic hair care as a natural cleanser and scalp balancer. Reetha contains natural saponins that help gently remove dirt and excess sebum without drying out the hair.
Reetha is especially suitable for oily scalp, dull-looking hair, and for those who wish to reduce the use of synthetic shampoos.

What you need for using reetha:

2–4 tbsp reetha powder
A good rule of thumb is 1 part powder and 3 parts water
warm or hot water
a non-metal bowl (for example a glass or ceramic bowl) and a non-metal spoon

Instructions:

Mix the reetha powder with warm or hot water into a smooth paste.
The paste should remain slightly more liquid than a classic hair mask, approximately with the consistency of yogurt.
Let the mixture stand for about 10–15 minutes.
Apply the paste to the scalp and hair. Massage the scalp gently.
If desired, cover the hair with plastic and a towel.
Leave on for 10–30 minutes depending on the desired result.
